Heifer International

Heifer International works with low income communities around the world to end world hunger, poverty, and care for the Earth. One of the projects that Heifer is doing is called Chores for Change. I really liked that idea and would someday like to put that idea into action in my future classroom. Chores for Change is a service program designed to show young kids that they can in fact make a change locally and globally. The program invites young students to volunteer in their communities to make those local and global changes. In my class, I would really like to offer the students the option of volunteering. I won't make it mandatory, but I love the idea of young children giving back to their communities. Being a teacher not only gives you the opportunity to educate the children, but in my eyes it also gives you the opportunity to shape the young men and women who will someday change the world as we know it. And I think that by using Chores for Change in classrooms can put us one step closer to doing that.
